Sorry its taken me so long to get back to you. I just got a bit busy after the show. It was a great show a little bit quieter than last year, which was expected because (as you say) of the current economic climate.
It was only me working at the stand but this year we had a great response even though we were in the corner a bit.
Well I hope things pick up and you get numerous shows booked. Do you not want to sign up with some agencies and associations. Networking really helps in this business. Also try some event procurement agencies.
I myself am trying to search for a permanent job, quite done with part time work now

My name is Nigel Francis and I am a new member.
I am a Professional Close-Up Magician who regularly performs at corporate events, including Banquets, Balls, Product Launches, Charity Fund Raisers, in Hospitality Suites and of course on Trade Show Stands.
I will be performing on the "Event Crowd" stand (ES 577) at the "Exhibiting Show", taking place at Earls Court on 25th and 26th June.
