Hi All, Just a example where musion is helping the planet. The Eyeliner System was used to project a life-size, three-dimensional image of Prince Charles onto the stage of the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. His Royal Hologram as he was dubbed by press, delivered a powerful speech on the environment to the world's leaders before vanishing into thin air. By using the Eyeliner System instead of attending the summit in person, he significantly reduced his carbon footprint, saving an estimated 20 tons of carbon waste. See the Video at http://www.musion.co.uk/Prince_Charles.html. Thanks Ed

Hi guys,

Happy 2009! Am now living in Melbounre Aus as my partner is here as sustainablity consultant & I can't resist a good beach ;-)
Just been to see a totally recycled temp events venue bang in the middle of the city centre which gives much food for thought back home . These guys take recycling v seriously & we should take a look at what they are doing, can u imagine seeing a straw bale built venue in the middle of Trafalgar Square with a roof top bar walled in with flight cases filled with vegetables? Well, they have one here, bang in the centre of town.
Am meeting the organisers for an interview so watch this space!

Hope u all surviving the horrid weather - am trying to deal with 39C not v well...

Following the second successful G50 Summit yesterday, and a great panel session on sustainability with Emma Wellman (EC&O), Dan Munslow (Aztec), and Naomi Kelt (Co2Balance.com), ESSA is about to launch a member sustainability working group. It made sense to tap into the great work that 'planet friendly' are doing, to further filter information through to the members - that's if my application is successful!! I'm afraid I can't make the event next week but look forward to hearing how things went. Cheers.

Bit late in terms of joining (sorry Marcus!) but would love to be involved in this group. Just back from hols today (nice break to Cornwall if anyone is interested!). Will contribute in more depth once I have gone through a mountain of email, mostly junk but some worthwhile ones in there somewhere I should think. Be right back, thanks for the invite Marcus

Great point. I think sustainability is the way forward. And it must be positive economically. We can't and shouldn't all suddenly change to being "extreme greens""and the only way forward must be good for budgets. If all the components of events were sustainable, attainable, practical and realistic then the
collective effect will be greater as it will be simpler to measure. And simpler to implement!
Emma Wellman Comment by Emma Wellman on July 18, 2008 at 4:16pm
When considering the planet, should we just consider environmental issues or balance that against economic and social issues by considering sustainability??
Alan Sheridan Comment by Alan Sheridan on June 16, 2008 at 3:15pm
There is a real need to share information and ideas, as an industry we can educate and learn from each others experiences. The Planet Friendly Group is a great platform to work from. The desire for change, I believe, will be driven by all of our customers. In order to quantify the need for change we will conduct a survey of visitors on environmental policies. The results will be collated and presented here after the Exhibiting Show 2008.

Here is a good source for eco friendly promotional items and logo imprinted products, in case anyone is looking for a supplier for those kinds of things.
