There is a real need to share information and ideas, as an industry we can educate and learn from each others experiences. The Planet Friendly Group is a great platform to work from. The desire for change, I believe, will be driven by all of our customers. In order to quantify the need for change we will conduct a survey of visitors on environmental policies. The results will be collated and presented here after the Exhibiting Show 2008.

Here is a good source for eco friendly promotional items and logo imprinted products, in case anyone is looking for a supplier for those kinds of things.

Katmandu is not on a green mission but we do believe in what we are promoting so it makes it fun to market as companies are asking questions and are willing to talk to their customers about Green materials and groups like this is where it starts and ideas for us all to use will come out. A planet friendly guide for events and exhibits is a great idea.

tell me what Swag is? sounds cool though! I think we need to arrange a US meet and a Euro meet personally. Exhibiting Show is a possibility for Europe. I guess you guys could meet at TS2? We could create a planet friendly guide created by the global community. Why not?

I would love to help in whatever way possible. Our company specializes in eco friendly "swag".

Thanks for the invite to the group. Marcus I like your idea about an easy reading guide for events and exhibitions.

Thanks for the opportunity... We are working for a greener friendly ExporamaShow 2008. Further on, in a few weeks we will present a new software for digital publications. Stay tuned for LibroPage that means "Go green - Reduce the cost"

How do you get exhibitors to follow up their leads?

Having worked for a large exhibition organiser, I know that many exhibitors simply do not follow up their leads. How many of you out there have had exhibitors cancel their presence because they did not get a good enough return on their investment and once you get to the base of it, they simply did not follow up the leads they generated? I have even had a company cancel their presence the following year because they lost their leads between the show and the office. "We didn't get any new busines… Continue

Life's Ultimate Test

Life isn’t always easy. Some say life is a struggle, a challenge. We often hear the saying “up a creek without a paddle.” Life can be a test, you’re either prepared or unprepared. Who we become as adults is greatly influenced by the way we are raised as children. The abilities and skills to survive and excel in this test of life are forever ingrained in us by our parents and educators. In this fast-paced ever evolving world, the prepared are able to rise to the challenges of life and fortune of… Continue

Alltop Section on Meetings and Events

UPDATE: Just wanted everyone to know that I just heard the "event planning" section on Alltop is a go! Check it out and please let Alltop know if there are other sites they should add (info@alltop.com). Hello... I recently contacted Alltop to pitch a "meetings and events" topic. I sent them about 25 examples of events blogs I read daily and they are looking into it. If anyone knows of any great even… Continue

An Interview with the New Executive Director for the Green Meeting Industry Council

"Sustainability is our vision. Corporate responsibility is our obligation. Green Meetings are our strategy." That’s how my interview with Tamara Kennedy-Hill, the new Executive Director of the Green Meeting Industry Council (GMIC) ended. That, and: “Profit is good—but it’s also about the environment and your impact on the community. Have you left the community you were in better off or worse off?” That is the way to define the movement to build sustainable events. It is about more than the pl… Continue
